The Blackcoat’s Daughter

Directed by Osgood Perkins

Less of a slow burn and more of a stretching out thirty minutes of plot into a movie-length story… The movie description is also misleading, as you’ll see…

Exceptionally well-acted, but it’s just so slow and goes long periods with little happening. It certainly caused my mind to drift off a few times. I hate this for smart people crap that some of the other reviews have going on. What nonsense. It’s mere preference whether you like something fast or slow-paced, and nothing more, and says nothing to the quality of what you’re watching.

The movie’s lighting was really dark in many places, but that and the film’s quietness make for a good atmosphere. These are the movie’s best parts, its creepiness, and great acting. I can’t say it’s not worth watching, there just simply wasn’t enough going on, and it was boring for a lot of it.

*** Three out of Five Stars (Average)
